Child Directed Play: Focus on Communication

Child directed play is a beautiful way for you as a parent to experience your child's world. Through the non-verbal communication of play we get opportunities to learn how our children are feeling and thinking if we listen with our eyes. When our little one takes the lead, we know that reflecting on both verbal and non-vebal communication enhances our connection and understanding. 💖

So as a reminder, lets put away distractions, immerse yourself in this moment with them, and truly focus on what they are trying to say. If we show them that their playtime is a priority in this way, we can watch the connection flourish! As they chatter and play away, try to focus on what they are communicating. Pay attention to their expressions, gestures, and body language. It's like reading a captivating story without words! Then use the steps in this video Child Directed Play: Focusing On Communication to learn what Ashley has to say about ways you can communicate back!

Remember, it's not just about what they say; it's about the magical blend of words and expressions that create a unique language between parent and child.
